Brinley's Cheerio Cake

::: Happy Birthday Brinley!!!

My sweet 2 year old. Princess, pumpkin, Brin, Brinee Bear are some of her nicknames. It seems like with the other kids I would be saying "I can't believe she is 2 already." Not this time. She seems to act older than her age. She knows how to stand up for herself. She has the sweetest light brown eyes and eyelashes to match. Her hair has really lightened up since she was a baby. As you can see from the picture it is close to my hair. Some might even say she is blonde. I love the natural curls she has on the ends of her locks. It is a little bit straighter in the front. Spray the back of her hair with water and scrunch is how I do her hair most days. We had eaten a lot of pie and some cake for thanksgiving, so I decided to make her a cheerio treat cake. Which she loved because she loves cheerios. She loved being sung to and blowing out her candles. I tried to load the video but it says the file is too big :(

Church Christmas Breakfast

Our ward did a fantastic job putting on the annual Christmas breakfast!
They had biscuits and gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, and Orange Juice.
They put on a program after with a skit and musicals and a video clip.
Then they had the special visitor Santa. They had a photographer set up and a cute backdrop.
All of my kids were excited to see him and sit with him because
we have been reading about him at night.

:::Emsley:::

1. She asked me, "When I am 16 can I take Jacob on a date?"
I told her of course you can.
2. She came home last week telling me that
Mrs. Wand (The school director aka principal)
liked her artwork so much she is going to show the whole school sometime.
3. She is constantly drawing.
She was helping me clean the table and floor in the kitchen.
A few crayons were left on the table and some paper & every time I looked over she was doodling.
She said well I just can't help it because these crayons are left out.
4. Told Santa she wants a salon doll. She told me she is not going to college
she is going to beauty school.

:::James:::

1. He was the child who most enjoyed the Gingerbread Tour.
His favorite part getting a treat at each house.
2. He has the sweetest sweet tooth.
After the tour which there were an overload of treats he wanted fruit snacks.
3. Regression on potty training. :( Not fun.
4. He is starting to read.
I was worried he would be a bit behind Em in schoolwork.
This kid is going to be one of the youngest in his grade (If we decide to send him)
9 months younger than Em.
He is farther along in his reading program now than Em at the end of her year.
Hopefully he keeps up with being a whiz kid.
(She was one of the smartest her testers said at the end of the year.)
5. Told Santa he wants a marble track.
(Daddy is excited to play with it too.)

:::Brinley:::

1. When you tell her to say Jay Cob she says it perfect Jay Cob.
When you tell her to say Jacob she says,
"Bake up."
It is hilarious to me.
2. She loves getting dressed up and looking pretty.
3. Most of the time she likes getting her hair done and brushing her teeth.
4. Loves her babies. Her dolls and real baby brother.

:::Jacob:::

1. He just smiled and smiled and smiled this morning, despite
Brinley crying loudly because she wanted the iPad.
2. Is so loved by all of us.
3. We just can't get enough of him.
4. He is constantly distracting someone from what they are doing with his cuteness.
Which we don't mind.
5. Likes to stay awake until 2 am. Then will sleep 2-4 hours.

Monday Morsels 12/8/2014

 I  LOVE this little family of mine!

This is a picture taken after Church at Amanda and Amy's Farewell by Andrew. The rest Aaron took.
I'm going to try and write and take pics once a week of each of the kids.
I'll call it Monday Morsels.
I will try and write a bit during the week then post on Monday's.
This is going to be like a Journal about them. Hopefully next Christmas I can print a book of these writings for us to enjoy.
::: Emsley :::
She is my little artist. Drawing and coloring are a favorite daily activity.

She loves to help in the kitchen especially if its a treat. Today we made a cereal treat and
she loved helping.
Food will motivate this girl. She loves to share especially when its yummy food.
Sometimes they will have a snack in kindergarten if it is someone's birthday.
The other day she saved some of her snack and gave it to me at the carpool pick up.
What kid would not eat there whole treat right then and there.
This girl is a sweet one I tell ya.
::: Brinley :::
She is mimicking more than ever before.
When Jacob was a few days old she licked her pointer finger,
and put some of his hairs in place. This had us literally laughing out loud!
She will hold up her pointer finger look at me and say "Mom back."
When I have to leave the house or room for that matter I often say "I'll be right back."
Today she added "Be back"
She will say this several times looking at me in the eye with her finger up.
Emsley's love for art is rubbing off.
She will sit and color for a good 15 minutes in her highchair
before yelling to me "Aaaa done. Aaaaaa done!"

::: James :::
I love this outfit on him. The printed sweater vest and
the bow tie is the cherry on top.
Monday was his first day back at preschool after a two week break.
He started to put up a fight when we were getting his shoes on to leave.
Grateful for Staci Martin (The other mom we carpool with) she told me he will be fine
and herded him into her van. This little boy has a contagious laugh.

::: Jacob :::
Oh my! My sweet sweet baby boy! We couldn't love him more!
He has started to smile more often this week.
His #2 diapers are a little less often, but usually has a
daily one that is explosive.
He is not as stuffy respiratory wise.
Which I was expecting to be worse after all the family we have had around.
It is amazing how big he is getting.
I love all the baby sounds he makes, from the breathing, yawning,
 hiccups (which he gets often) grunting, goos, and gahhs.
On 12/2 he started baby talking a whole minute.
He looked me right in the eye and made sound after sound with his eyes locked on mine.

Fall Fun

November 2014

Every year we try and play in the leaves. This year we had to go over to our neighbors house and rake up their leaves to play in, because we our yard is a work in progress. We made one ginormous pile and jumped in. The kids would lay down. We covered them in crunchy leaves, then had them pop up like mummies. We would throw them in the air and have it rain leaves. These kids love the simplest things. What a fun night that didn't cost a dime.

 I love my boys!
I think Jacob will end up taking after Mommy and James...Blonde and blue eyes.

 Brinley adoring baby Jacob. I love the love she has for him!

Monday Morsel's 3/14/2014

3/14/2014

I'm going to attempt to write a post each Monday with "Morsel's" about each child.

Emsley

She is a great helper. We spent some time at Grandpa and Grandma Jo's house and she loved helping and doing projects. Em and James even made bird houses with grandpa. Even though it was spring break for her she still did homework every day and tried to complete her usual making her bed and two chores. Chores she does are putting away silverware, putting away other dishes, loading the dishwasher, cleaning up from meals, picking up toys, gathering all trash and lining each garbage can, setting the table, wiping off counters and tables, sweeping, cleaning mirrors, spot mopping the floor, and vacuuming the living room rug.
She loves picking out her own clothes and deciding how her hair will be done.
She is accomplishing the goals that we set academically faster than I thought. The last couple she completed are can count to 100, do simple adding and subtracting with numbers up to five, lots of sight words (I'll have to get a count sometime), and can read simple early reader books on her own. Those were her last couple of goals for her. We will have to list all she can do at her next school assessment.

James

Wants to do everything his self. Most of the time will not happily accept any help. Oh boy, he can sure through the tantrums. For instance last night putting on his footie P. J.'s after using the restroom. Right before bed I encouraged him to put his P.J.'s on himself. He was able to do it. Then in the middle of the night I got up with him to potty. We left his feet in the P.J.'s, he used the restroom, then he tried for a minute to get his arms in. The arms of the P.J.'s  were inside out, and I turned them right side out then held the arms up so he could put them in. He put one arm in then realized I was helping him. He started screaming and pulled away from me and took out his arm then struggled trying to take his feet out also. I tried to tell him he already had his feet in, we never took them off to potty, and I just helped with the arms because they were inside out. He struggled and screamed until he got the P.J.'s off. Then he calmed down and put them on taking verbal direction but no physical help. After he was finished he grinned and let out a happy sigh. Heeeeee. You would have never known the fit he just threw. He was filled with joy.

On a lighter note. James loves to drink water. He loves the color blue.  He loves is obsessed with cows. The thought of something being blue or something related to cows makes him instantly happy. I

Brinley

She is quite funny. She has always called me ma ma but this last week started saying Mom meee. At times she'll hold out the last syllable. It is so darn cute. She has also started climbing like crazy. She can climb up on  our dinning room chairs all by herself. When she gets up she will have a little dance then proceed by yelling in her cute little voice Mom meeee. When I get in her view she will proceed to keep saying mom mee as if she is saying look at me look at me! She also accomplished climbing on my parents living room long rectangle table. I had all the doors closed to the living room except for the one going to the kitchen. I let her play while I was in the kitchen prepping food. Soon I could hear her yell Mom meeeeee. I walked in the room to find her on top of the living room table with a wide toothy grin spread across her face and eyes glimmering happiness. Mommy Mommy, Mommeeeee. I watched as her small chubby feet pitter pattered from one side of the table to the other. She would try to go fast only two seconds later to come to a halt at the very edge of the table. Then she would move her feet up and down to turn her self 180 degrees only to do it again. The other kids were in the other room eating, so I decide to let her have a few minutes.
