Nightmare
RSV
ER
Keeping it real...its not 100% cloud nine all the time. No one likes to bulb syringe suction with saline We have done a lot of it the past few weeks.
Mid December when Brinley was 3 weeks old, the week after we took her out to church to Aurora's (Aaron's sister) Mission Homecoming, she got sick. Over two days, she went from sick to very sick,
Sunday afternoon we were at my parent's house. I was having to suction her often, sometimes every five minutes. I borrowed a stethoscope and listened to her lungs. She had bilateral wheezing and coarse lung sounds. She started having a really hard time breathing. She was breathing more shallow, her ribs were retracting. She was not nursing well and vomited an entire feeding, and she was spitting up which was unusual From all the mucus she so we ended up taking her to the only place open...the ER...after a chest X-Ray, blood test and swab for RSV...she was found positive for RSV and diagnosed with Bronchiolitis
According to Web Md : Bronchiolitis is an infection of the bronchioles, the small air passages in the lungs. It is common in young children and is the leading cause of serious lower respiratory illness in infants.
What causes bronchiolitis?
...even though RSV is viral, they gave her two shots... Decadron... and Rocephin...Rx for zyrtec and an Rx for deep nasal suctioning at the hospital by respiratory therapist...the ER doctor felt that because of my experience and ability to assess lungs we could go home...thankfully Brinley gradually got better over the next week.
We have been hobbits. We stayed inside for December and January no church included...Feburary 3rd I went back to work (PRN)
