Fall Fun

November 2014

Every year we try and play in the leaves. This year we had to go over to our neighbors house and rake up their leaves to play in, because we our yard is a work in progress. We made one ginormous pile and jumped in. The kids would lay down. We covered them in crunchy leaves, then had them pop up like mummies. We would throw them in the air and have it rain leaves. These kids love the simplest things. What a fun night that didn't cost a dime.

 I love my boys!
I think Jacob will end up taking after Mommy and James...Blonde and blue eyes.

Brinley adoring baby Jacob. I love the love she has for him!

Monday Morsel's 3/14/2014

3/14/2014

I'm going to attempt to write a post each Monday with "Morsel's" about each child.

Emsley

She is a great helper. We spent some time at Grandpa and Grandma Jo's house and she loved helping and doing projects. Em and James even made bird houses with grandpa. Even though it was spring break for her she still did homework every day and tried to complete her usual making her bed and two chores. Chores she does are putting away silverware, putting away other dishes, loading the dishwasher, cleaning up from meals, picking up toys, gathering all trash and lining each garbage can, setting the table, wiping off counters and tables, sweeping, cleaning mirrors, spot mopping the floor, and vacuuming the living room rug.
She loves picking out her own clothes and deciding how her hair will be done.
She is accomplishing the goals that we set academically faster than I thought. The last couple she completed are can count to 100, do simple adding and subtracting with numbers up to five, lots of sight words (I'll have to get a count sometime), and can read simple early reader books on her own. Those were her last couple of goals for her. We will have to list all she can do at her next school assessment.

James

Wants to do everything his self. Most of the time will not happily accept any help. Oh boy, he can sure through the tantrums. For instance last night putting on his footie P. J.'s after using the restroom. Right before bed I encouraged him to put his P.J.'s on himself. He was able to do it. Then in the middle of the night I got up with him to potty. We left his feet in the P.J.'s, he used the restroom, then he tried for a minute to get his arms in. The arms of the P.J.'s  were inside out, and I turned them right side out then held the arms up so he could put them in. He put one arm in then realized I was helping him. He started screaming and pulled away from me and took out his arm then struggled trying to take his feet out also. I tried to tell him he already had his feet in, we never took them off to potty, and I just helped with the arms because they were inside out. He struggled and screamed until he got the P.J.'s off. Then he calmed down and put them on taking verbal direction but no physical help. After he was finished he grinned and let out a happy sigh. Heeeeee. You would have never known the fit he just threw. He was filled with joy.

On a lighter note. James loves to drink water. He loves the color blue.  He loves is obsessed with cows. The thought of something being blue or something related to cows makes him instantly happy. I

Brinley

She is quite funny. She has always called me ma ma but this last week started saying Mom meee. At times she'll hold out the last syllable. It is so darn cute. She has also started climbing like crazy. She can climb up on  our dinning room chairs all by herself. When she gets up she will have a little dance then proceed by yelling in her cute little voice Mom meeee. When I get in her view she will proceed to keep saying mom mee as if she is saying look at me look at me! She also accomplished climbing on my parents living room long rectangle table. I had all the doors closed to the living room except for the one going to the kitchen. I let her play while I was in the kitchen prepping food. Soon I could hear her yell Mom meeeeee. I walked in the room to find her on top of the living room table with a wide toothy grin spread across her face and eyes glimmering happiness. Mommy Mommy, Mommeeeee. I watched as her small chubby feet pitter pattered from one side of the table to the other. She would try to go fast only two seconds later to come to a halt at the very edge of the table. Then she would move her feet up and down to turn her self 180 degrees only to do it again. The other kids were in the other room eating, so I decide to let her have a few minutes.

OUT and ABOUT

{March 6th}
I haven't been out much with three kids yet,
keeping kids in during the sick season.
Today I decided we needed to go to the library.
Since we haven't been out much I, Brinley rarely goes in the car seat.
She went off to dreamland. Slept on the way there.
We got there ten minutes early.
The kids went right to the fun library rug and sat down.
She woke up after the kids got involved in story time.
Nursed well with the nursing cover,
and enjoyed watching the kids the rest of story hour.
Emsley and James listened well.
This outing was bliss...

Another mother came in about 15 minutes late...towing two kids.
She kept having to tell one of her kids to sit down.
Her other child kept wandering off pulling books out from the shelves.
She had some snacks she pulled out...
(which i bet was a last resort noting no food allowed)
She let one of her kids sit in the chair next to her.
The other now getting up from the rug
wanting her treat.
She gives her some and she sits down.
Then James sees her and starts saying I want one.
She proceeds to put the treats away.
Then leaves before story time is over.
I was nursing Brinley while watching this other mother struggle.
I wanted so badly to empathize with her and say I've been there.
That this is one of those rare blissful occasions where things are going well.

The next week we went to library story hour. The first time out went so well, I thought I can do this it was actually easy last time.
It didn't last.
We were late to story time.
There were no big chairs for me to sit on.
I ended up sitting on the kid chairs at the kids table.
Hips off kilter because there to wide.
Every few minutes I was telling James to sit down so other kids could see.
He became uninterested and started bringing me books to read.
Brinley wanted me to hold her and not be put down.
When it came time for our craft Brinley had to nurse,
so I started to nurse her. James stayed at the table about 6 minutes.
Then wanted to see the large tall wooden bunnies that were on the bookshelf.
I tried to get him to come back to the table by just asking him.
Pretty soon he started to climb the bookshelf.
As soon as I saw this I unlatched Brinley held her in one arm put my nursing cover over me to stay modest.
Then ran for James. As I'm getting him down with one hand I must have held Brinley a bit tighter, because then she vomited about everything she had eaten. Soaking her outfit and the bottom of my shirt and one leg of my pants. I take us all to the bathroom. Get some of the spit up cleaned up then Brinley poops. So I clean her up while trying to keep Em and James in the bathroom.
Then James poops. By the time we got home let me just tell you I was exhausted!

Silly Sisters

What we have been up to...on valentines day I got the flu and it was one of the worst sicknesses I have experienced. The worst part was that it lasted and lasted for about three weeks. Sore throat, congestion, extreme fatigue, muscle aches, headache, nausea, no appetite, then the next day added ear aches, then the next day pink eye. This passed on to all members of the family. We stayed inside for another few weeks.

Emsley remembered that when she was little we took a picture of her with a diaper on her head... and I thought she looked like George Washington. Today she said lets make Brinley into George Washington.
